Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy is a confidential, collaborative process where clients work with a licensed mental health professional to better understand themselves, develop coping skills, and address emotional, relational, or behavioral challenges. Therapy is individualized and paced to meet each client’s unique needs.

  • Therapy is a clinical service provided by a licensed mental health professional and focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, emotional distress, and psychological symptoms. Coaching is a non-clinical, educational service focused on personal growth, skill-building, and goal achievement. Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health disorders.

  • Therapy is recommended if you are experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or symptoms that interfere with daily functioning, relationships, or overall well-being. Coaching may be appropriate if you are emotionally stable and seeking support with organization, motivation, life skills, parenting strategies, or personal development. An initial consultation can help determine the most appropriate service.

  • I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, ADHD, executive functioning concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, and stress-related issues. Services may also include parent support and family work when appropriate.

  • Common concerns include anxiety, emotional overwhelm, ADHD-related challenges, social difficulties, behavioral concerns in children, stress management, and adjustment to life changes. A full assessment helps determine whether therapy is the appropriate service for your needs.

  • No. Coaching does not include assessment, diagnosis, or treatment of mental health disorders. Coaching sessions focus on education, accountability, and practical strategies rather than clinical treatment.

  • My approach is evidence-based, relational, and developmentally appropriate. I integrate practical tools, emotional insight, and skill-building to help clients make meaningful and lasting changes. Therapy and Coaching are both collaborative and tailored to each individual or family.

  • Faith can be integrated into therapy and coaching at a client’s request. Spiritual beliefs are respected and may be incorporated in a clinically appropriate way when aligned with the client’s values and goals.

  • Standard therapy and coaching sessions are approximately 50 minutes. 30 minute sessions (virtual only) may also be available when appropriate. Session frequency is typically weekly but may vary depending on treatment goals and clinical needs.

  • The length of therapy varies. Some clients benefit from short-term, goal-focused work, while others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper or ongoing concerns. Progress is regularly reviewed.

  • Therapy is confidential and protected by law. Information is only released with written consent, except in rare circumstances required by law (such as concerns about safety).

Coaching sessions are private, but they are not governed by the same legal and ethical standards of confidentiality as psychotherapy. Coaching records are not considered clinical records, and coaching clients do not have access to psychotherapy protections such as treatment notes.

  • Yes. Therapy and coaching with children often includes age-appropriate interventions and parent involvement. Parents or guardians are an important part of the clinical process.

  • For minors, a parent or legal guardian must consent to treatment. If there is a custody agreement, documentation will be required prior to services beginning, and all custodial parents may need to sign intake paperwork. We do not offer court-based services; if there is a custody issue needing therapeutic assistance, we can refer you on to a Court Involved Therapist (CIT) or a Reunification Therapist.
